This element controls the logging of messages by ShapeChange.  An example:

1
2
3
4
<log>
     <parameter name="reportLevel" value="WARNING" />
     <parameter name="logFile" value="./NAS_v1_3_MDB/result.xml" />
</log>

Since ShapeChange v2.10.0, log messages fall into two categories: process and process flow. All log messages created by a ShapeChange process, i.e. transformer and target, as well as while loading a model (e.g. the input model), fall under the first category. Some log messages, created by transformers, that merely announce the execution of a certain transformation rule, are the exception. Log messages created outside of a ShapeChange process, fall into the second category. Such messages primarily log information about the steps of the ShapeChange execution (work)flow, including any general errors encountered during execution (such as an invalid configuration file).

Log levels for process and process flow log messages are: DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, ERROR, and FATALERROR.

At the end of execution, ShapeChange produces an HTML result report, which contains the log messages as well as links to resulting files. The report allows a user to show and hide log messages of a particular category and level, independently of log messages of other categories and levels. A user can thus keep full information about the process flow, while only showing process log messages on level error and above. This can be useful for determining the source of an error.

Parameters for the <log> element are as follows:
